Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) - given in grades one through eight to measure specific, core curriculum topics considered essential for academic
progress.

Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) - are nationally norm-referenced tests (which compare our students to the national average) as required by state law. The information from these
exams help to evaluate and improve instruction.

Grade Five Writing Assessment - as described by the title, this exam tests fifth grade students through a writing assignment. An essay topic is assigned, either a creative
story or a personal narrative.

Middle Grades Writing Assessment (MGWA) - this assesses a student’s written work on an assigned topic in one of three writing genres.

Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GHSGT) - given initially in the junior year of high school, a passing score on this test is required by state law in order to receive a high school diploma. Topics covered by the exam include science, social studies, reading, writing and arithmetic.

Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) - an exam of the College entrance Examination Board given to measure verbal and mathematical skills. It is often a requirement for college entrance, but is optional for high school students.
